Join us for a Panel Discussion with Authors Wayne Caldwell, Marjorie Hudson, and De’Shawn Charles Winslow. Our panel moderator will be Georgann Eubanks.

Each of these three writers has produced a recent book grounded in a specific place which affects every other aspect of the work—character, dialogue, dramatic scene and the overall tone of the words.  We’ll talk about how place is determinative to each author and whether they struggle with this feature in their writing or if it comes naturally. Wayne Caldwell’s latest poetry collection, Woodsmoke; Marjorie Hudson’s sweeping novel Indigo Field which is both historical and contemporary; and De’Shawn Charles Winslow’s Decent People, which focuses on a violent tragedy in a Black community, all share a fierce allegiance to place which strengthens with each page.  How is this accomplished and what are the limits of this approach?
