JAM Enrollment

Is your child interested in joining JAM? Enrollment in the JAM Program happens each fall and the program continues throughout the school year.

About JAM: Ashe County is renowned for its traditional old-time music, a cultural treasure passed down through generations. To ensure this musical heritage continues, the Ashe County Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) program was established in 2001. The JAM program, held at the Ashe Civic Center, offers fall and spring semester sessions. It provides students the opportunity to learn to play traditional instruments like the banjo, guitar, and fiddle. Students must enroll in the fall to participate in the spring semester.

Classes open to grades 3 – 6 in banjo, fiddle and guitar are held after school at the Ashe Civic Center during the semester.
