The Arts Councils of Alleghany, Ashe, Watauga, and Wilkes are pleased to announce a grant awards program just for artists. The REGIONAL ARTIST PROJECT OF NORTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA offers competitive grants to artists living in these four counties. We are excited to be able to offer funding to individuals and it is done with a Regional Artist Project Grant from the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency.
Being able to fund individual artist projects is a goal of our organizations and we look forward to providing tangible, monetary support to several of you. Artists in all disciplines are eligible to apply; Regional Artist Project winners from 2018-2019 must wait one year to reapply for funding. Awards generally range from $250 to $1000. Guidelines for the project and an application form are included with this letter.
Several information sessions are planned to help artists with the application process. If you have any questions or would like to attend, we encourage you to contact your local arts council. Northwest North Carolina is blessed with many fine artists; we look forward to partnering with you in supporting your creative ventures.
Receiving grants for 2019-2020 include: Betsy Brey, Wilkes County, artist supplies; Daniel Cater, Alleghany County, hydraulic press; Rosa Dargon-Powers, Watauga County, artist supplies; Cara Hagan, Watauga County, installation project; Adam Kahn, Watauga County, portfolio update; Diane Morrison, Alleghany County, jewelry making supplies; George Pennell, Watauga County, art book portfolio; Rachael Salmon, Watauga County, update photography equipment; Paige Whitley-Baugues, Wilkes County, rehearsal and travel expenses for new dance work; Annie Woodford, Watauga County, travel expenses for promotion of new literary work.
