The Appalachian State University Hayes School of Music Faculty Ensemble returns to the Ashe Arts Center for a delightful winter afternoon of chamber music. This group, a favorite of the series, brings together talented faculty members for a cozy performance in an intimate setting. Expect an afternoon filled with artistry, warmth, and the timeless beauty of chamber music.

This year’s ensemble features Dr. James Douthit (piano), Dr. Pedro Maia (violin), Dr. Eric Koontz (viola), and Dr. Dakota Corbliss (horn). With impressive international careers and a shared commitment to music education, these performers are celebrated for their individual achievements and collaborative synergy. Their all-Brahms program highlights the composer’s lyrical depth and emotional breadth, including the Scherzo, Op. 4, the Sonata in E-flat, Op. 120 No. 2 for viola and piano, and the radiant Trio, Op. 40 for violin, horn, and piano. Corbliss, a new face to the Arts Council audience, brings a beautifully warm, expressive sound that complements the ensemble’s refined musicianship.

Join us for an enriching musical experience with this outstanding ensemble, whose members have graced concert halls worldwide and influenced generations of musicians.

This concert is part of the Ed Perzel Chamber Music Series.
