Exhibit Opening Reception: Out of the Blue

Out of the Blue Exhibition

June 7th- July 8th 2017

Opening reception will be held Friday, June 9 from 5-8pm.

The exhibit features the creations of five visual artists from the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina: Beth Andrews, Marion Cloaninger, Marsha Holmes, Susan Marlowe, and Norma Suddreth. These artists share their love, appreciation, and joy of living in the Blue Ridge region. This is expressed in their art. Yet, they are diverse in their creative approaches. From the literal to the whimsical, our art includes images of the disappearing mountain lifestyle, beautiful visions of the land and culture, vivid contemporary mixed media pieces and playful and joyous celebrations of life. The work offers a shared experience of what it means to be a woman artist in the 21st century.

Each artist is as different as the subjects they cover but all share the same commitment to bring awareness of the beauty, honesty and joy in everyday life.
